The active ingredient in Mifegest is Mifepristone, a synthetic steroid that functions as an anti-progestin. It works by blocking the hormone progesterone, which is essential for maintaining pregnancy. Without progesterone, the uterine lining breaks down, detaching the embryo and initiating the abortion process.
